Average-Speed Sections in Italy 2026 – Up-to-Date Interactive Map
As of August 2026, Italy has 480 active average-speed sections and more than 8,600 speed cameras — the densest enforcement network in Europe. We keep them all on an up-to-date interactive map, refreshed with every change: here is what to know before you set off.
The up-to-date map of average-speed sections
Every active section is marked on the interactive map of average-speed sections in Italy. The map is free, runs in your browser and shows where each section starts and ends.
Driving beyond Italy? The full map of road enforcement in Europe covers speed cameras, average-speed sections and restricted zones across the continent.
How average-speed enforcement works
Cameras at the start and end of a section record the time you pass. From the time and the distance, the system calculates your average speed over the whole stretch, so slowing down just at the camera does not help.
A fine is issued when your average speed over the section is above the limit, regardless of your momentary speed at any single point.
Real-time average-speed alerts
The map is handy before a trip, but on the road you need a warning, not a browser. The TollTracker app for iOS and Android alerts you when you enter a section, shows your live average speed and warns you when it approaches the limit.
It also covers speed cameras and restricted zones — Italy’s ZTL city centres included — across Europe: see everything the app does.
Speed cameras in Italy
Beyond the sections, more than 8,600 fixed speed cameras operate across the country. Their locations are marked on the map of speed cameras in Italy.
Drive calm: check your route on the map, turn on the alerts and forget about fine letters.
