The ZTL of Cortona Gialla (Yellow) is active as specified in more detail in the following schedule:

winter period
from 01 October to 30 April, every day
ZTL active:
from 11:00 to 14:00
from 17:00 to 20:00

summer period
from 01 May to 30 September
ZTL active:
from 10:00 to 15:00
from 16:00 to 04:00

The ZTL of Cortona Rossa (Red) is active as specified in more detail in the following schedule:

winter period

from 01 October to 30 April (working days and holidays)
ZTL active from 10:00 to 20:00

summer period
from 01 May to 30 September (working days and holidays)
ZTL active from 10:00 to 04:00

If exemption requests are repeated too frequently relative to the temporary nature of the permit, the Municipal Police Office may refuse to issue further ones, just as it may refuse to issue them if it is possible to adapt the access to the permitted cases.

Permitted vehicles

Within the Red ZTL, during the periods it is active, transit and parking are prohibited for all vehicles (including mopeds and motorcycles), while in the Yellow ZTL of Cortona, transit by two-wheeled motor vehicles is permitted.

Authorized subjects

Transit and parking in the "YELLOW ZTL" and Red Limited Traffic Zone, as an exemption to this ordinance, is permitted:

to vehicles for mechanical street cleaning;
to taxis, chauffeur-driven hire vehicles (N.C.C.);
to rescue vehicles, of the Armed Forces, used for police, firefighting, ambulance services and rescue in general, and Civil Protection,

The following are authorized to enter upon reporting the plate:

vehicles registered to residents of the ZTL of Cortona
vehicles registered to owners of commercial premises located within the ZTL of Cortona (only for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 3.5 t)
vehicles registered to, or otherwise documented as used by, public administrations
vehicles of public utility services and operational vehicles used for public works authorized by ordinance
vehicles of private utility service providers (only for vehicles with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 3.5 t)
general practitioners: doctors and paediatricians under agreement with the national health service, doctors from the hygiene office, from the legal medicine office engaged in territorial service for ASL 8
vehicles serving disabled persons

Note that vehicles authorized to enter the Red ZTL of Cortona may enter the Yellow ZTL of Cortona, while the opposite is not permitted, i.e. those authorized for the Yellow ZTL of Cortona are not necessarily authorized to enter the Red ZTL of Cortona

Disabled access

Holders of a disabled parking permit may access the ZTL of Cortona as an exemption simply by displaying the permit they hold and reporting the plate they are travelling with. This report must be made in advance or at least within the 36 hours following the event to the Municipal Police office.
