Since April 2019, section 47 of the Federal Immission Control Act has provided that driving bans are, as a rule, neither necessary nor proportionate in areas where the annual mean for nitrogen dioxide does not exceed 50 µg/m³. On that basis, 19 low emission zones have been lifted since 2020.

The zone existed from 1 февраля 2013 г. to 1 октября 2025 г. and covered around 33,67 km².
