CarPlay & Android Auto
TollTracker runs on your car's built-in display, with the same feature set on Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Nothing is cut down on one platform.
Getting connected
- Connect your phone to the car the way you normally do (cable or wireless, depending on the vehicle).
- Tap the TollTracker icon on the car's home screen.
That second step is not optional and it isn't a bug: car platforms don't let an app put itself on the screen. You tap it once when you get in.
First run
Open TollTracker on the phone at least once, finish onboarding and grant location permission, before you rely on it in the car.
What's on the car screen
The map
Your position, the road, and every pin TollTracker draws on the phone map: speed cameras, average-speed sections and live reports from other drivers. Pan and zoom with the car's own controls, or tap the mode button to snap back to following your car.
Alerts
Approaching dangers appear as alert cards over the map, with the distance counting down as you close in — the same warnings as the phone, laid out to be read in a glance. Average-speed sections get their own card showing your measured average, and your current speed is on screen throughout.
Reporting
The report button opens a grid of the six report types (police, accident, hazard and the rest). One tap submits it — no confirmation step, no countdown — and the pin lands where you were when you reached for the button. The phone stays the full-detail reporting surface; the car version is built for fewest glances.
Reporting is a Premium feature. Car screens can't show a paywall, so the button simply isn't there on the free plan.
Navigation

Day and night
The car screen follows your vehicle's own day/night display setting, not the phone's. If your car is set to Automatic, the map flips with the car. If you've pinned it to Night, it stays dark. This is deliberate: the car's setting is the one you chose for that screen.
Requirements
- Apple CarPlay: any CarPlay-equipped vehicle or head unit.
- Android Auto: any Android Auto vehicle or head unit.
- A TollTracker Premium plan for alerts and reporting, matching the phone.
Not the same as the Lock Screen widget
On iPhone, TollTracker can also show a Live Activity on the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island, which iOS 26 mirrors onto the CarPlay dashboard pane. That's a separate, smaller thing from the full CarPlay app described here. See the FAQ.
