Conversano ZTL

The gate located at Piazza Castello is active 24 hours a day, every day.
The Viale Adriatico gate is active:

• From 1 October to 30 April
  • Weekdays from 00:00 to 06:00, from 12:00 to 14:00, and from 19:30 to 24:00
  • On public holidays from 00:00 to 24:00
• From 1 May to 30 September
  • Weekdays from 00:00 to 06:00, from 10:30 to 24:00
  • On public holidays from 00:00 to 24:00

• Weekdays from 00:00 to 06:00, from 12:00 to 14:00, and from 19:30 to 24:00
• On public holidays from 00:00 to 24:00

• Weekdays from 00:00 to 06:00, from 10:30 to 24:00
• On public holidays from 00:00 to 24:00

• Weekdays from 15:00 to 06:00;

There are 4 automatic access-control devices for the ZTL di Conversano, installed at:

• Viale Adriatico
• Piazza Castello
• Via Arringo;
• Via C. Conte/Piazza C. Battisti

The access ban to the ZTL di Conversano applies to all unauthorized vehicles, and therefore mopeds and motorcycles may not access without a permit.

Access to the ZTL di Conversano is always prohibited for vehicles with a gross laden mass exceeding 3.5 tonnes (Art. 47 paragraph 2 letter b category M3, paragraph 2 letter c category N2, paragraph 2 letter d category O3, of Legislative Decree No. 285 of 30 April 1992 – the Italian Highway Code).

Transit in the ZTL di Conversano is authorized for:

• Police forces;
• Armed forces;
• Ministries;
• Municipal Police;
• Fire Department;
• Duly marked Local Authority services;
• Public transport, taxis, cargo taxis;
• Religious and funeral services;
• Public rescue and roadside assistance;
• Public-interest services (e.g. AQP, Post Office, Telecom, ENEL, AUSL);
• Persons with disabilities, in the designated bays;
• Doctors;
• assistance to persons resident or domiciled in the ZTL;
• household units registered as resident in the Z.T.L., within which at least one person holding a driving license and owning a vehicle resides, if that vehicle remains parked on a public road; for the purposes of granting authorization, motor quadricycles referred to in Art. 53 paragraph 1 letter h) of Legislative Decree No. 285 of 30 April 1992 – the Highway Code – are treated the same as motor vehicles;
• owners of motorcycles and mopeds (Articles 52 and 53 of Legislative Decree No. 285 of 30 April 1992 – the Highway Code), who are registered as resident in the Z.T.L., one per motorcycle or identification permit for mopeds;
• any vehicle that remains parked inside private areas belonging to household units resident in the ZTL, within which there is a person holding a driving license. Holders of such permits may not obtain further authorizations for parking on public roads, other than a single parking authorization on public roads for the entire household unit; for the purposes of granting authorization, motor quadricycles referred to in Art. 53 paragraph 1 letter h) of Legislative Decree No. 285 of 30 April 1992 – the Highway Code – are treated the same as motor vehicles;
• household units, or individuals, who demonstrate that they reside permanently and continuously in dwellings in the Z.T.L. and who prove this status with at least two utility supply contracts: electricity, AQP (water), landline telephone services, audio-video services or similar, from which the domicile can be established;
• On a personal basis, to new mothers, duly holding a driving license, who are registered as resident in the Z.T.L., in addition to any authorizations issued to their household unit, valid until the child reaches the age of three;
• On a personal basis, to residents of the Z.T.L. who have reached sixty-five years of age and hold a driving license, in addition to any authorization issued to the household unit;
• owner of premises located in the Z.T.L., or of commercial activities, craft workshops, public establishments and similar activities, to the head of cultural associations registered in the appropriate Municipal Register and based in the Z.T.L.;
• A single personal authorization, to a resident of the Z.T.L. over seventy years of age, even if not the owner of a vehicle, to be used from time to time for the vehicle used to provide assistance, and provided no other authorization exists within the household unit;
• A single personal authorization, to a resident of the Z.T.L. suffering from medical conditions, duly certified in accordance with Art. 381 of Presidential Decree No. 495 of 16.12.1992 and according to the template sent by ASL BA, Prevention Department, Public Hygiene and Health Service, Lungomare Starita, 6, 70123 Bari, Prot. No. 66784VOR 24 of 06.04.2009, to be used from time to time for the vehicle used to provide assistance, and provided no other authorization exists within the household unit;
• A single personal authorization, to a resident of the Z.T.L. suffering from a condition, even temporary, certified with the wording of significantly reduced walking capacity, issued by a public or affiliated hospital following admission related to the mobility-impairing condition, valid for the duration indicated in the certification's prognosis, to be used from time to time for the vehicle used to provide assistance, and provided no other authorization exists within the household unit.

Holders of a disability permit may access the ZTL.

Loading and unloading activities inside the ZTL di Conversano are permitted only on weekdays:

• from 06:00 to 10:30 from the Via Paolotti/Piazza Castello entrance
• from 06:00 to 15:00 from the other entrances.

On special occasions of holidays falling on successive and consecutive days, an exception may be granted, established by service order of the Municipal Police Command.
