Rieti ZTL

The Rieti ZTL is active 24 hours a day, every day of the year, allowing access only to residents and other entitled categories.

In the ZTPP, traffic circulates freely except from 24:00 to 05:00, Monday to Saturday. On Sundays and mid-week public holidays, however, it is active 24 hours a day, and access is permitted only to holders of a Rieti ZTPP and ZTL permit as well as entitled categories. The measure restricting operation of the Via Garibaldi-Porta Alce gate from 24:00 to 05:00 every day of the week, including Saturdays and holidays, has been extended until 21 June 2017. It should also be noted that Via Garibaldi, starting from the intersection with Via Pitoni up to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, is open to traffic, as is Via Cintia in the section from Piazza Marconi to the intersection leading to Largo Santa Barbara, near the Inps office: both measures are to be considered experimental.

There are 8 automatic ZTL access control devices for the Rieti ZTL, of which 3 guard the ZTPP and 5 guard the ZTL, installed at:

• Via Cinzia (near INPS) (ZTL),
• Via S. Pietro Martire (ZTL),
• Via del Burò - Via della Verdura (ZTL)
• Ponte Romano - Via Roma (ZTL)
• Via Garibaldi (near the Flavio Vespasiano theater) (ZTL)
• Porta Cintia (ZTPP)
• Via delle Stelle (ZTPP)
• Via Garibaldi Porta d'Arce (ZTPP)

Access restrictions differ between the two areas:

• in the Rieti ZTL, the ban applies to all unauthorized motor vehicles; it is therefore held that mopeds and motorcycles may enter without a permit;
• in the Rieti ZTPP, only residents' cars may enter, and therefore the entry ban also applies to two-wheeled vehicles.

The following categories of vehicles are authorized to enter the Rieti ZTL upon issue of a specific permit:

Holders of a disabled permit resident in the municipality of Rieti must report to the municipal police command, for entry into the Rieti ZTL database, the license plate of the vehicle they habitually use, as well as any changes; if a vehicle other than the one indicated is used, the same permit holders must report, as soon as possible and in any case within 48 hours following transit, the license plate of the vehicle used to the toll-free number 800-098579 (active from 08:00 to 23:00) or by fax to no. 0746-257427.

Holders of a disabled permit resident in municipalities other than Rieti must report, as soon as possible and in any case within 48 hours following transit, the license plate of the vehicle used to the toll-free number 800-098579 (active from 08:00 to 23:00) or by fax to no. 0746-257427

The categories concerned are:

• craftsmen and commercial businesses operating with their own vehicles;
• hauliers and couriers;
• wholesalers and distributors in the food sector;
• distributors of fresh products and catering services;
• perishable food products; pharmacies and medicine distributors;
• cash-in-transit armored vehicles.
• with reference to credit institutions and/or other companies providing documented cash-in-transit services, a permit may be issued for non-armored vehicles, in the event they do not own armored vehicles;
• press distribution;
• sales representatives with heavy, bulky, or valuable samples.
